Yesterday at work was fucking mental. Normally I hate posting about work because that'd turn this into 'Oates sobbing about work' soon enough, but yesterday was especially retarded. See three people at work are out sick right now, two of them supervisors. Oh, and we're training a new manager as well. That's the setup.
So the manager decides that instead of finding someone to run the shift in the afternoon tomorrow she'll get the trainee manager to have a go at it. He turns out a really nice guy but not very experienced at running a shift at PLACE OF WORK. And they're running this big lecture series upstairs at the training place so there's a whole shittonne of new customers coming through.
Then the boss starts freaking out. It's a low freaking out, but she's really stressed and starts taking it out on everyone. So the boss is freaking out, the new guy is confused and then the shift change happens. Suddenly I'm in control because Ben's replacement comes from a store where they have an automatic machine and again, the new guy doesn't know what he's doing. I try and tell them both how to close the store while I'm tired and run off my feet, then after my shift ends I hang around for another half hour helping them out.
Then it comes back to me that everyone who goes out back is getting bitched to about me because I'm still at work and the boss doesn't like that. Apparently I'm 'costing the company money'. She's out there processing some stupid order that came in, but if I'm doing actual work to help people out I'm in trouble.
I stayed on for another ten minutes, got the drink for a customer who's a bit picky done, and then went out to the computer in back and punched myself out for the time I would have left anyway. On my way out I stop by the boss and tell her I'm leaving and her response is: 'Lucky you'.
Seriously. She's been trying to call me to get a shift covered but she can go fuck herself. I got more important things to do than play in her little power trips.
