The symbols are wrong. The old year should be middle aged. Elderly people know they're done for. They're usually pretty receptive to change having gone through a lot of it and knowing it's impossible to escape. The middle aged are still stupid enough to think that what's gone is the best of all possible worlds, and still have the power to try and maintain it.
The new year shouldn't be a baby, either. The new year should be a teenager.
