Right! So the nonsense begins.
The setting is some knocked together crap I stole from a comic book, which was probably stolen from Michael Moorcock in the first place. It's about seventeenth century europe and some aliens crash land on the planet. They have a brief war with the humans, but since there's a very finite amount of them and they don't really have a good understanding of thier own technology they make peace quickly and settle themselves in as the aristocracy of the lands they've conquered.
Go forward a few hundred or so years. The alien technology is largely gone, with a small part having been assimilated by the local humans and is ubiquitous. I'll make that part up as I go along.
The main character is a half breed. He's the result of an indescretion between a human woman and an alien male. I'm not sure how I'm going to work this yet, but he's sterile because of his heritage, and the heir to both the noble houses he is part of. No one else is really happy with this situation, but he's a selfish bastard so he's not letting go of the titles. No matter how many bribes or attempts on his life he recieves.
He's also blue. Niether of his parents are, the aliens look like humans except taller, paler, thinner. You know, like in Michael Moorcocks stories. But his blood cells don't bond with oxygen properly making him blue if he forgets or neglects to take his medication.
So we've got a lazy, greedy sterile rake whose life is in constant danger who turns blue if he doesn't take medication. I am going to have fun with this.

good point about the time thing. But good luck anyway. I'm debating whether I really do want to try it now...

A Russian and a Chukota are out on the tundra, when all of a sudden a polar bear rears up.
"Run!" shouts the Chukota.
The Russian raises his rifle and shoots the bear. It falls to the ground, dead.
"Great," says the Chukota. "Now we're gonna have to drag it ten kilometres back to camp."
