So I finished reading the Scar. A lot of the things I've read about it say the end was an anticlimax, but I find what happened a little disturbing. It plays perfectly with the themes of change and possibility running through the book.
At the start I was expecting something similar to the first Bas-Lag book, especially with the hunters mysteriously appearing from the depths at the beginning. But overall it was a more mature and more interesting read than Perdido Street Station. And that's not a put down on the first novel at all. They're both great reads.
