I had a phone interview for one of the bank teller jobs today. I... I really don't know if I can go through with this. It's not just customer service anymore. I could do that. I'd be happy doing that. But they expect us to meet a quota of 'upsales', where we successfully refer customers to other departments. I don't know if I can do that. I hate when people try to sell me things when I'm not interested.

Selling products in a bank situation would not be that bad. Lots of people come into banks specifically because they want a particular product (i.e., credit card, home/business loans). You would probably hit your target without really trying. You could also listen to the person. If they say "I'm not getting enough interest on this account" you recommend another product to them, then BAM. Another "sale". I had friends in the customer service dept of the NAB who regularly used to get 1000% of their targets because 90% of the time they were being asked for something.

I've been thinking about it, and I've noticed that usually when I go to the bank they don't hassle me about this sorta thing. Usually the most I get is 'is there anything else I can do for you?'
So yeah, I'm stressing about nothing. Hell, I dunno if I'm even up for an interview yet.
