It's Wednesday. I'm at Uni. I had to skip off the tram on the way here because the goddamn ticket inspectors got on at Hawthorn Road. They never, ever fucking check tickets on the East Malvern line, except this once. I was sitting with my back to them, but I saw these kids in front of me suddenly validate tickets and I knew I was in deep shit. I looked over my shoulder quickly, stood up and bolted out the back door of the tram. They either didn't see me or didn't care. Instead of walking straight to Uni I went around the block then across Caulfield Park. I ended up getting here at about half past, so I decided to blow off the lecture and come in here and get some work done. So far all I've done is updated my blog with the old posts and read a few webcomics.
Man, I remember back in the nineties when I never rode with a ticket. It was never an issue. We just got on the train, rode into Flinders Street and got out through the barriers. If there were no barriers open we just bought a cheap ticket on the inside and got out. If they were manned I just said that the machine at Seddon was broken. Because it usually was. They didn't care where the hell I came from, just as long as I put down those two bucks to escape.
These days is different. I'm bloody terrified to be on PT without paying for it. I can't wait for my austudy to come in next week so I can get my concession card and start being a law abiding commuter. Stupid being poor.
