Yeah, I had my first lecture of the course that's got self-help books on the reading list. The subject's title is 'Software Engineering Practice'. Basically it's to teach us how we can be better software engineers. Basically the whole thing is self-help. Should be interesting, though, because they're teaching us a new language. That always makes things interesting.
