One of the big problems of my Uni course is that a lot of what we're doing is theory. There's bits and pieces throughout it that can be applied directly to stuff, but mostly it's 'Here's the big picture. These are the ideas behind stuff you might be doing when you get a job.' The hard part is figuring out what's useful right now.
So the assignment we had to hand in today involved a simple database with a couple of tables and one or two relationships between them. We've been over relationships in pretty great detail, spending a month on the relational data model in Info Systems, and another lecture on it last week in Computer Organisation. Still, out of the whole class today I was the only one who applied the crap properly. I dunno if the others were confused by the program we were using or they didn't see where it was applicable.
