Right. Reading that post I wrote last week about the whole Vietnam/Iraq comparison thing. I'll have it known first that I try to be something approaching analytical in all this. I think the current war in Iraq was a load. But that doesn't mean it's anything like Vietnam. 'Vietnam' in the American psyche means 'A war we lost', nothing else. The reason they think it was bad was because they lost it. When former Liberal Primer Minister Malcolm Frasier compared Iraq to Vietnam he was only referring to one fucking facet of the whole dumbness: the Western interlopers don't understand the locals. Yet the media and the opposition jump all over it as if he's come out and said 'Iraq is Vietnam again'. Pisses me off, it does.
