So I get to work sweating like hell, with five minutes to spare and an empty stomach. I spent most of the time engaged in busy work, 'facing' the 'ends' and 'wings'. Facing is where us fillers have to turn existing stock to the front and move the old stuff forward. The ends are the shelves at the ends of the isles where they have the specials on display, and the wings are the little bits beside them. From what I did I saw some really cheap tuna and lemon squash soda and bought a heap of both on my way out to go home.
But by far the worst part of the job was the people walking up to me and asking where things are. Most were satisfied with 'I dunno, this is my first day.' We had a bunch of guys from an old-folks home come in and buy up all the bottled water we had in the store because the water at thier home was out for some reason. But there was this one bitch who wanted something, I don't even remember what it was now, but when I told her 'I'm only new here', she replied 'Well I'm only a customer and I want blah blah blah'. She had to have seen me roll my eyes at that. I yelled for one of the other guys to help her out because it was the only way I would get away from her.
