Dad just got back from his new doctor. The doctor he used to see retired recently due to being too old and fat to continue the hours he was working. I'm not really sure of the details. He was also extremely fucken rich, but that's not really important. An important detail is that the old doctor was the only man in town licensed to prescribe drugs of dependence. He was the man people went to for methodone when they got sent out here to detox.
Over the years Dad's built up a tolerance for nearly every pain killer on the market, so not long ago this doctor decided he'd give Dad some kind of controlled drug. I can't remember what it's called and I don't care. About a week after this happened the doctor announced his retirement. Now Dad's addicted to this drug and no doctor in town can supply it to him. The new doctor just doesn't have the qualifications to do it. Dad's completely uninterested in improving his quality of life through any means other than what he can get from a pill, but that's not the point. The old doctor intentionally gave him something that he's addicted to and can no longer get. It doesn't sound like health 'care' to me, that's for fucking sure.
