It's a pity wrestling is in the state it is now. They call it 'sports entertainment' because we know it's fake. In the business they call it a 'work'. I have no problem with it being fake. I'm not really interested in watching two guys actually try and beat other senseless. Good wrestling is a story about pride and honour told with a vocabulary of athletic, gymnastic and other physical feats. Every move has a meaning and good wrestlers will play the crowd with thier actions, trying to get the audience to be a part of the story.
'Sports entertainment' means something else, though. It's trashy bullshit that dresses wrestling up as an episode of Jackass or The Man Show. I can understand why they do it. They want to attract the interest of casual viewers who might be bored by what's going on in the ring. It the extra crap that pisses me off, though. It's like they've forgotten what they're actually doing out there.
