The meeting was interesting. We met with the writer-director, Fiona Blair. She's interested in doing a production locally involving local groups and people, a production that somehow uses the local scenery and landscape. She's experienced in the whole situation, having done similar things in places around Victoria, including an outdoor version of Midsummers Night's Dream in Mildura which had a documentary made about it and everything.
The only thing she isn't really experienced with is the local weather. The area she's thinking of putting it all is so windy they have power generating towers out there. So maybe it could do with some rethinking. I know that other theatre projects deal with similar situations further along the coast where they put on Pericles and the Tempest yearly, so it's not impossible.
And I dunno why I'm even caring. The date they've set is the end of next year. The only thing left in Portland of me by then will the dead skin cells that make up the dust lying around this room.
