So I'm 26 today. The Universe steals another year from me. There's this story in that JG Ballard anthology I bought in Melbourne about this effect that starts changing everything on Earth into crystal. A lot of the story takes place in the Florida swamps where everything, the land, the water, the plants and the animals, have turned to crystal. Everything is locked together, alive forever in an immobile, crystalline world. There's a bunch of religious mumbo-jumbo in the story as well, about how this crystal effect might be the immortality promised in the Bible. Well, I say fuck that. If living forever means giving up all freedoms bar thought, it can go fuck itself.
I just wish my body could do the same things it used to, that's all.
