On Wednesday night at rehersals they told us to think about our characters some, create details about thier backgrounds so we have a better idea of whom we're playing. I guess they want this because we'll be doing a lot of improvisation, there's a lot of parts of the play where there's no lines, but we're expected to stay in character and interact with the audience.
My character's name is only given as 'Mutton' and I'm a drunk and a trouble maker. In the play, I mean. So far what I've come up with sounds something like this:
I used to work at the meatworks, over in Bordertown, hanging skins. But then that place closed up and I moved back in with me mum. She's got an old farm house outside of town, but she don't own the land around it. I look after the place for her, you know? Mow the lawns, clean the gutters, that kinda thing. Sometimes help the farmer, Mister Georgiadis, when he needs a hand fixin fences and stuff. He's not bad for an Italian.
I hang round in town some, too. At the TAB or the pub. Not much really happens around here, you know? Nothin much to do. Gotta make them happen for ya.
