The trip up to Melbourne was fucking horrible. It rained for the first three hundred kilometres and if the roads had been made to be driven on in the heavy rain, the state they've fallen into isn't anything even resembling that. Nik's Mum's car isn't really designed for that kind of driving, either. We were floating on top of the water pretty regularly on the stretch between Warrnambool and Mortlake. I just kinda shut off from what was going on and buried any perceptions of reality in a book I found lying on the back seat.
