Okay. Stand on Zanzibar was definately inspired at least in part by the SI. One of the characters is unconsiously performing a dérive. This just happens to be a character who has a job watching the media for patterns that occur to him, which he gained after expressing views similar to the ones in On the Poverty of Student Life.
