Anti-terrorism laws are to combat the meaning of terrorism, not the act. The destruction of the world trade centre could never have been prevented. If it wasn't planes, it would have been something else.
Today I sent a package overseas, a copy of the book I was published in. I arranged for Mum to come in with me to present her ID because there's these new anti-terrorism laws to stop dangerous goods being sent through the post. You have to be identified, indentify what you're sending, and sign a form saying you are who you are, and your package is what it is.
But I didn't need to. I said 'There's a book in this package.' and the woman said 'Okay.'
