Pokemon gold and silver introduced breeding. You can mate a coupla pokemon and then train the offspring. The parents don't even have to be of the same breed. But I know for certain that if pokemon was 'real' there'd have to be laws passed to punish trainers who tried to 'breed' themselves with thier pokemon.
