The parents are giving in this year and finally buying a plastic christmas tree. The wood-and-needle are either too expensive or take too much effort to steal from the wilderness. But I think the main reason is the cat used to eat the pine needles off the natural ones then throw up where people walked around barefooted and bleary-eyed in the morning. Cat vomit's bad, but it's worse first thing in the morning.
