In Deus Ex there was a system for monitoring the world's information transactions, a descendent of the Echelon system we were all messing around with a few years ago with the terrorism terms in our emails. In Deus Ex it was called Daedalus, after the Greek artificer from legend. The Bush administration hasn't released an official name for thier version yet.
