Back to the meningicoccal thing, one of the defences I've heard most often for not giving up smoking is 'you gotta die from something'. Now if I gave the same reason for avoiding the ultimately pointless injections tomorrow, that you have to die from something and at least a flesh eating bacteria is interesting, people would be horrified or think I'm nuts. Reality is just too complex for the human brain to handle.
