Just had some eggs. I remember when I was studying Japanese, we had this lecturer who was absolutely awful. She was from Japan and she treated us like primary school children, as if we were learning at the speed of a word per week rather than the grammatical concept per week we were trying to choke down.
Anyway, one thing I do remember was studying food nouns to conjugate verbs in the informal style. When we got to the word for 'eggs sunny-side up', she launched into this speech about how Japanese men are lazy bastards and sexist pigs.
She told us about how expensive meat is over there, and how they get most of thier protein from eggs and vegetables. Single men apparently cook thier eggs sunny-side because it's simple. They just sit the eggs on the pan at low heat and wait. She took offense from this, that they weren't willing to eat elaborate rice meals if they had to prepare it. So now every time I have eggs I cook them sunny-side and I think of that crappy teacher and how pissed she'd be to see me being lazy.
