Speaking of fucky hardware, my computer doesn't like my cd rom drive. I haven't really looked into it, but I'm guessing either the motherboard or the chipset drivers have settings that stop certain peripherals from overworking the system and themselves. It turns the cd drive off after it reaches a certain crank. It's not really a problem, it only happens on certain cds. Coverdiscs from APC. Which is where I get all my software, what with the slow connection and all. To get stuff off them, I have to boot up in DOS, copy the files across to the library partition with the command line, then run them from there in windows. Which tells me its probably the chipset drivers.
