Wrestling. They did something neat on it tonight. See, they had a match between the two most recognisable faces of wrestling, Hulk Hogan and the Rock. It was billed as a match between icons, the new versus the old, to see who was the ultimate wrestler. Hulk Hogan dominated at the start, but then the Rock got the upper hand. Then, outta nowhere the Hulk got a second wind, punches stopped affecting him, he was on fire. He whipped the Rock into the ropes, lifted up the boot to knock the Rock down, performed his finisher, the leg drop and then pinned the Rock while the crowd went wild. If you watched wrestling at all during the eighties, that would have been a familiar sight. Hulk Hogan won countless matches with that exact combination. Once the Hulkster seemingly became immune to damage, it was the end for the opponent. The big boot/leg drop combo always followed and it was the end. Except for tonight. The Rock kicked out and soon after won the match. Hulk Hogan was holding his ribs afterwards, I think he was seriously hurt. The point is, whoever put the match together was paying attention. This is a symbol, and an important one. Hulk Hogan's days of being on top are over. Anyone who was worried about him sending the WWF down the same road WCW went down should be satisfied with being wrong now. The Rock kicked out of the leg drop.
