More television watching. This one requires a little background material. In Australia they televise the proceedings of Federal Parliament, our national House of Representatives. They show highlights from the day during the afternoons on TV, then on Saturday nights a program is aired showing highlights from the whole week. So I'm watching the weekend highlights of parliament and I am thinking that I'm absolutely fucking ecstatic to live in a country where we pay our democratic representatives top money to squabble for an entire week over whether one of them might have tried to decieve another. I say this without hint of irony, without a trace of sarcasm. I mean it. Other countries they have to worry about wars, rising crime, major social issues. In Australia we've got a bunch of glib old men trying to one up each other simply because they have nothing better to do. And it means they're staying the fuck out of our lives. Sometimes it's great to be an Australian.
