Okay, so while I was playing Princess Maker2 had a Cool Game Idea. QuakeIII is supposed to be like this amazing arena where gladiators from different times and different worlds battle it out against each other for the pleasure of these beings that get mentioned in the instruction manual. You could be fooled quite easily into thinking it's just a showcase for a game engine.
Anyway, bagging of QIII aside, it would be mucho cool to actually have a gladiation simulator. There's one on home of the underdogs, but it looks a tad too old to run on my computer. What I'm talking about isn't really a combat game, more a management game where you make the decisions for a stable of asskickers. And your success depends on bringing a cohesive style to the fighters you bring up, as well as the many political choices you make during the course of your career. This is also partially inspired by the create a wrestler bit from the smackdown games. It's a pity the best bit of them wasn't the gameplay.
I so have wrestling on the brain this morning.
