I hate living in a town with no bookshops. There's the newsagents on the main street that sells paperbacks, and there's the library I'm not allowed in anymore with the boring selection anyway. At the moment I'm re-reading Ballard's Cocaine Nights. It's a good book, and interesting. But I want to read something different. I might go buy something trashy from the newsagents. There was a sci fi anthology that looked interesting in the Salvation Army shop, but it wasn't there when I went in with money.
Any reading, whether the writing is good or bad, has merit. There's a bit of Confucius for you.
