Just watched a japanese movie on SBS called 'Afterlife.' Beautiful film. One of my favourite parts is where the old woman with a child's mind relives being in the fall of cherry blossoms from when she was nine. Later she gives the blossoms to one of the people looking after her and he's stunned, at first not realising what has happened.
Anyway, yet again I am stunned by the stupidity of people. The professional reviewer SBS has to introduce the movie said it was a thought provoking and original look at what happens after we die. Or something like that. Strikes me as stupid and wrong. The only thing the movie was about was the lives of the people involved, and the whole 'making movies of the memories of the newly dead' was a vehicle for it, not the damn focus. It really pisses me off how people can get simple things like that wrong, and are paid to impress these wrong opinions on others.
The movie deserved more than the butchered synopsis it recieved at the beginning and end.
