Windows isn't the only thing that's died on my PC lately. Accidently dumped most of a mug of coffee into my keyboard a few weeks ago. It didn't stop working straight away. Took a while for the coffee to seep into the contacts or something. There was so much liquid inside it, it was running out when I picked it up. At first I thought it was cool, a novelty. I had a coffee-scented keyboard. Then about half an hour after keys stopped working properly. About an hour after that, a bunch of them stopped working entirely. Had to wait a few hours before the computer shop opened so I farted around with the 'board: opened it up, cleaned it, put it back together. It still didn't work.
The guy at the shop told me he'd seen liquid tipped on a keyboard before and it had blown up. I guess I somehow must have missed the circuitry in the top-right corner. I think the guy must've known I was unemployed, too. I could see it in his face. He would've been able to tell by the way I was dressed and the time I was in there.
