Major thanks to Sar for lending me the CD with Windows on it to let me get my PC going again. Was a weird few days. I spent a lot of time walking between his place and where I'm living with my parents. I had this route picked out where I could avoid the main streets, going between building, through car parks and through an arcade that's all empty shops. On the way home with the disc the first time I was nearly ecstatic, believing I'd solved my problems easily without spending money. Felt good. I was using a pirate copy of something that had thousands of hours put into and and fuck-knows how many r&d dollars and I was getting away with it; using it for my own ends. But it didn't fucking work. Don't know how long I sat there pushing the CD in and hoping it was something wrong with the drive and it'd fix itself this time. Turned out I needed a floppy disc as well. Got that off Sar the next day and tadaa. My PC is working better than ever.
