For some reason I just remembered a guest speaker we had at highschool when I was in year 10. We weren't really the highschool anymore, then. Already combined with the Tech down the road to form the 'Portland Secondary College'. The guest speaker was an obviously traumatised policeman talking about road accidents. He stood there with these hollow cheeks and hollow eyes telling us about bodies that fell apart in his hands when he picked tried to examine them in the morgue and similar scare stuff. Course, we didn't beleive him and made fun of him and he cracked the shits with us and started yelling and none of the library staff did anything about it. Makes me wonder what the point was, whether it was just busy work, so some bored english teacher could have a break, to provide a side show for the library staff or because it was part of some stupid requirement made up by people who've never set foot in that sort of environment. Or maybe the Principal thought it was a good idea. Anyway, afterwards we got to ride on the seat-belt tester. I think that's what the whole thing was about: selling seat-belts.
